Kate was spending another evening alone. Another night in front of the TV watching yet another romance movie with yet another predictable ending. A couple who happen to have a chance meeting, fall in love against all odds and adore each other till the end of time. She kicked herself for once again ending up in tears over a film. Why could she not be the one who falls in love and lives happily ever after, meet a nice guy get married and have 3 adorable children. Well that was what she had dreamed about since a child. After pulling herself together she switched on her computer and read her e mails. Yet again full of spam, yet one mail caught her eye. A free online dating site.

Kate decided to sign up, not feeling all too confident as she had heard of all the online horror stories, but what was worse? Spending each night alone? or going out on a few dates and getting out of her dingy flat? She decided the latter and signed up.

Looking round the site there were lots of guys looking for one night stands and married men looking for a bit of occasional excitement. But among them were a few genuine guys who were looking hopeful in finding a lovely lady to wine and dine. Well why couldn't that be her? she was a good person, all she wanted was the occasional candle light dinner and someone to love and adore and someone who would return those feelings honestly.

Her message box pinged with hopefuls who just seemed to want to talk about sex without paying the going rate through the call centres, yet she struck up a conversation with a guy called Adam who seemed genuine enough. The only problem was that his profile did not have a picture on. he said he was new to the Internet and did not know how to load his picture onto the profile page. Although Kate was sceptical his description left her slightly weak at the knees. She always did have a soft spot for tall guys, and at 6 foot 3 with dark hair Adam definitely fitted her 'type of guy'. Also his profile was full of promises of a candle light dinner, with a glass of wine, and a willingness to take everything at the pace of the lucky lady. He sounded adorable. They swapped messages till the early hours until the sun began to rise. The same happened every evening for a couple of weeks until they finally swapped numbers.

When Adam phoned, he sounded so sweet, his voice was husky and sexy, so Kate plucked up the courage and asked if he would like to meet the following night. To her delight he agreed and made a date. Rather than trying to get to know each other in a crowded restaurant they decided to meet at his place. he had a swanky apartment in town and Kate thought it best to meet at his as her house was a typical bachelor pad with clean and dirty clothes scattered all over the place. When she arrived at his apartment the following evening, the place was dimly lit by candlelight. She was impressed, he had actually read her profile. He had been rushing about trying to get the meal ready so she had not managed to get a good look at him until he brought her over a glass of wine while she waited. He was adorable, she could not believe her luck, the first date and she had hit the jackpot. Everything was just perfect, she just hoped he liked her too.

After talking non stop over tea they found they had a lot in common. Including their love for chinese food. They arranged another date at the end of the evening for a weeks time, but when Kate got back from work she found she had a message from Adam on her answer phone, he had invited her out to see a movie. She quickly changed out of her work clothes into something more suitable and Adam was waiting for her in his car outside. They sat through a tear jerking romantic movie, but for some reason it seemed so different to have his strong arm around her while they sat through the film.

Weeks later they had become a couple and Kate hardly ever went home but to collect her mail. Only 6 months later they became man and wife and promised to love and adore each other, to honor and obey. Kate was so happy and the lonely nights in her dingy flat were a thing of the past. She had a loving husband and all because she put her doubts aside and gave Internet dating a go. She sent a picture of Adam and herself to the site owners to give others hope. All she had now was all because she and Adam both had put their ideal first date would be a dinner in candle light.
